One of my friends invited me to her birthday party. My neighbor was also invited so I went with her. She has a nice car. It is six months old. Everything is automatic with built-in navigation. I was curious about the price of the car so I searched on the net since I do not want to ask her about that.
While surfing on the net I found many websites selling cars like General Motors. I was intrigued by the GM cars. So, I hopped from one page to another. They have lots of car brands to choice from. One of my good friends had her birthday last October. To celebrate her special day, she asked one of our friends to teach us on how to decorate a cake using fondant.
Here are the results of that afternoon session.

It is easy to decorate a cake using fondant because there are so many patterns like birds, flowers etc. which you can just press to the rolled fondant compared to buttercream icing which is difficult. You need to have control of your hands so that the icing will be in good forms or shapes.

One of my colleagues before had a problem with hair loss. His doctor told him to take a rest. One cause of hair loss is stress, the doctor explained. I believe in what the doctor told him because our boss gave him multi-tasks. He answered clients phone calls and visited them too. Going home late was the best solution to finish the work on time. Our boss was very strict.
He is wearing wig now. I told him why not try hair transplant surgery. There are so many artists having this kind of surgery. Yes, it is expensive but if you are satisfied with the result then it is a good investment and is lifetime too. He considered my idea of having hair transplant surgery but he will first save hundred bucks for the surgery because he cannot just do it now. I have four mouths to feed, he added.
Last September he quitted his job. Before he went on a short vacation to Prague he applied for a new job and position. When he was back, one of the companies accepted him. Luckily he has a job now which is less stressful than before.

An Awesome Christmas Gift

Our new fiberglass internet connection was installed last week. Now we have HD senders which are awesome. The quality of the films are better than the ordinary senders. We plan to have a new tv and a good sound system for an ultimate viewing. Since last week we have been searching on the net and visiting different stores in the city for a new tv. This TVee Model 30 sound system attracts and interests us. It has Premium LCR HDTV Soundbar Speaker and Wireless Subwoofer with Virtual Surround Sound and Bluetooth which is a perfect tv in the living room. But we will wait until next month since there will be sales. Most of the stores are giving away 30-40 % discounts on Christmas time. This will be an awesome gift for the whole family this Christmas.
The old tv will be transferred to my son's bedroom. If ever we want to view our favorite films we can watch them anytime we want without having any arguments with my kids.
We are satisfied with the fiberglass internet connection so far. My hubby can download as many films he wants and watch them on our new LCR HDTV.

An Interesting Conversation With A Good Friend

Last month I met one of my good friends at the KFC, my favorite fast food restaurant. We have not seen each other for a while. We send messages via FB and texts. We ordered 2 sets of hot wings, French fries and drinks. We talked a lot of things...our family back home. The days when we were young and the recent experiences we have here in our new country were the main subjects of our conversation. Sad to say they plan to move in Germany. Her husband likes it there. But before they will move, they should have their house repaired so that they can ask for a good selling price. A Durable Vinyl Flooring is what they are looking for. They plan to have it repaired next year after their vacation from our homeland. They also have to change the bathroom tiles since they have stained from water leaks. Ceramic floor tiles for the bathroom are the best. They are easy to clean. Hope that they can sell the house with the price they wanted because the house market now is very disappointing.

My ever good friend made this one for me. How nice and sweet of her! We've been friends for more than 10 years. We sometimes meet in the parties. Fb is the best way for us to keep in touch and sms too. The kind of friendship we have is something to treasure. I really like this pic of mine. The background matches my red shirt. Red is my fave color.
I use Imikimi Sharing Creativity in editing my pictures. I like this program because they have a lot of photo backgrounds in different categories like Christmas, Face Cut-outs, Special Days, Cards and many more. When I have nothing to do, I can spend hours doing some photo editing and share to my friends on FB. Picjoke and Photobucket are also good. I sometimes use these programs, too.

Autumn Season

It is becoming colder and colder everyday. The temperature today is around 11 degrees celsius. The autumn season is here. You can see the early morning mist. This morning there were hailstones but not big. Time to wear winter jacket and shawl. I do not like to wear them. Jacket is very heavy and the shawl around your neck is very uncomfortable. No choice! To keep me warm and away from cough or colds I have to wear these things. I have kept my summer clothes in the other cabinet. Sweaters and long sleeves are now ready for the cold days.
What I like in the autumn season are the falling leaves. They are very colorful. They have yellow gold, red orange and brownish colors.
Tomorrow's temperature is just almost the same as today. Cold! brrrrrrr!

Need A Floor Installer

Living on a house with rough floors and mess is very inconvenient.
My friend needs someone who is expert in flooring installation. Her boyfriend tried to install the floor but it was a big mess. He used more materials which cost more than the experts used. Her boyfriend had underestimated the work. Lots of his free time was wasted installing the floor. He was very disappointed because the result was not good. They wanted to save some bucks if they do it alone. He changed first the bedroom floor as a try out. The result was not presentable enough so he decided to stop and let someone do it. They are looking for someone who is very good in flooring installation. It may cost more than their budget but at least the result would be acceptable. They went to the store where they bought the materials and asked if someone could come this weekend. The store owner told them that they can schedule it next month because they have many orders. She was very upset. She cannot wait until next month so they keep on searching for someone who can solve their problem soonest.

Reschedule the Party

My sister called me up yesterday. We have not talked for a while. A big party is organized for her daughter. She was very upset because the party of her daughter will be moved on the 22nd instead of the 15th of this month. She is very busy repairing her house. Some tiles are slightly broken. She was very angry because the people who installed the floor tiles are not experts. The files were unevenly installed and the grout in-between was not well applied. It was coming up. They have to learn more on how to install the tiles, she said. The party will be moved because of these untrained laborers. She had spoken to the contractor and said the tiles must be changed without any additional costs. The contractor agreed her request if not she will not pay the whole contracted amount. It was the fault of the contractor that his people are amateur in doing that skilled work.
It is very frustrating to know if you are expecting things and works to be finished in a certain period of time. Her daughter's graduation party will be rescheduled due to the delay of the work.

Kevin Is Very Inquisitive

Kevin sometimes helps in cleaning the house. One afternoon after school he did not want to watch tv neither play computer games So, he packed the unfinished boat and continued building it. This boat was given to him during his birthday. He has to assemble the boat. He had been building this boat since two days ago. He is almost done. After an hour, he got bored. He asked me if he could sweep the floor using a swiffer (a disposable rag). He sometimes helps me in cleaning the floor. When he was finished cleaning the ground floor he asked me if he could clean upstairs. We have laminated floor upstairs so it is very easy to clean. Kevin was cleaning the floor while I was chatting with my friend in the U.S. FlooringinBatonRouge,LA has just installed their laminated floor. She was very thankful that they have laminated floor because it is very easy to clean. She can clean the whole house in 15 minutes.
This evening Kevin helped me in preparing the table. He put the place mats, dishes, glasses and the cutlery. He is very helpful and inquisitive. Due to his curiosity he is very interested to do something new that attracts his eyes.

Swimming Diploma B

Every child here in the Netherlands has to get a swimming diploma at least diploma A. Swimming is one of the integral parts of children's education. This country is surrounded with water like lakes, canals or small ditches. Children must know how to swim to save themselves or friends when they fall into a ditch etc.
There are three diplomas to acquire A, B and C. Annabel had her Diploma A last 2009. Some kids took more than a year to get diploma A. We were very happy because she did it in seven months. When we moved here in Almere we had to wait for months before she could start her swimming lessons because we wanted that she could have the same schedule with Kevin of course in the other group. We enrolled Kevin last February this year but he started last June. There are so many enrollees that parents have to wait maybe half year before their children can start the lesson. So, he is now in his 5th month in swimming. We hope Kevin will get his Diploma A two months from now. It saves us time and money. Just the same as Annabel, Kevin has to get the three diplomas.

The first part of their exams was swimming with clothes and shoes on.

The last part was swimming with their swimsuit. The exams took almost 45 minutes. Diplomas were given right after the exams with a small pack of chips to felicitate the kids. Today she is going to start for Diploma C. I think it will not take long to get C.

Diploma A: Acquisition of swim strokes
Diploma B: Basic swimming skills
Diploma C: Complete program
A child has a passport for a lifetime fun in swimming and playing in the water if he gets the three diplomas.

I have been blogging now for two and a half years. When I started blogging I never thought that I could earn some extra bucks which really help in our daily needs. I linked my blogs to my facebook so that my family and friends can visit them. They can read the updates on our lives here.

It was amazing to see a hedgedhog so close.
This pic was taken during our neighborhood party. This hedgehog lives nearby our house. Behind our backyard are bushes and some trees. Hedgehogs feed on insects, snails, frogs and toads, snakes, bird eggs, carrion, mushrooms, grass roots, berries, melons, and watermelons.
In 2006, McDonald's changed the design of their McFlurry containers to be more hedgehog-friendly. Previously, hedgehogs would get their heads stuck in the container as they tried to lick the remaining food from inside the cup. Then, being unable to get out, they would starve to death.
It was around 8 in the evening when the children saw this hedgehog. They shouted and yelled "hedgehog". An enthusiastic crowd gathered around the hedgehog. They were very excited to see a hedgehog. As you can see the hedgehog was scared because it tried to spread its spines. To protect from intruders hedgehogs use spines. It was so scared that it did not make any moves. That's why I was able to take some pictures. When we were away it immediately ran to the bushes.

Cool Wedding Bands

There are so many different types of wedding bands out there. I have been looking at them lately and have narrowed down a couple types I think are pretty cool. A lot of people are turning to tungsten rings for their wedding bands. They look great and are virtually scratch resistant. That makes them really popular. Plus the price is great. They have kind of replaced titanium rings as the go to ring. Titanium are much more light weight than tungsten but they scratch kind of easily. You do have to make sure you get a tungsten ring that does not contain cobalt in them. Cobalt will oxidize to your hand and make the ring very unattractive.
Another fairly new type of rings are palladium rings. Palladium is a metal from the same category as platinum. They are very similar. In fact palladium is more rare than platinum or there is less of it out there because it hasn’t been as valued as platinum in the past. A lot of times the value of a metal is what drives the market. So if it is seemingly valuable than a lot of people will want it and drive the demand up.

Crabs are one of my fave seafood. You just cook the crabs in 7-up or water. Leave it for few minutes in the pan until the water boils. It is done when the crab shells turn into reddish orange. They are delicious.
I took this picture last year when I was in the Philippines. I was salivating while writing this post. Hope to have them in my dish soon.

Last week I was in a drugstore to buy lotion and vitamins. When I was at the counter to pay, the cashier asked me if I wanted a bonus card. Every time you buy something you will receive points and will be saved in the card. There are many items with corresponding points. Using these points to buy the items is the best way to save up some bucks. I can also use this card to log in to the website of the drugstore. Since I signed up last week I can receive emails everyday about the items which are on sales. Usually I sit behind the computer so it is easier for me to visit their website.
Many shops use points or give out coupons every week to attract customers. So, check the online coupons and see if the supermarket near you, maybe they are also giving away coupons. Online coupons are very convenient. You just print them and bring to the store.
I will log in later to my account to check the items on sale today. This morning I will go out to do some shopping and maybe drop by the store to see their items on sale.

It is nice to start your day with a cup of coffee from dolce gusto coffeemaker. We bought this last year. The design of this dolce gusto coffeemaker caught our eyes. This metal red coffee maker matches our kitchen cupboards.
I sometimes drink a cup of tea or a cup of coffee macchiato. I have just drunk one cup of coffee macchiato. A sliced of cassave cake matched that delicious coffee. The smack of the coffee is still in my mouth. I sometimes have cappuccino but it cannot surpass the taste of coffee macchiatto...for me.
I am not addicted to any drinks. When we dine out, my hubby always offers a glass of red wine. A glass of sprite or soda water will be enough for me.

More than two weeks of not finding my blog online had given me a dreadful feeling because this blog has its own domain and has PR 3. It is already earning reasonably good. Seeing my blog again last evening lifts my happy emotions up high. What a big relief to see it again! I made this blog two years ago. I spent many hours and tiresome moments making this blog. It is back :)
On the contrary, I was upset because the PR was gone. Because I had a big problem with my blog according to the domain provider that he had to install everything again. So, I think I have to register this blog to the search engines like GOOGLE, YAHOO, AOL SEARCH, BING, etc. again which I am very disappointed and must have to do it. I have to start from the very beginning as if I have just started blogging. Notwithstanding, I missed a few opps from the advertisers. Fishing is Cancelled

I am so disappointed. We planned to go on fishing but the weather did not cooperate. It rains the whole day. We have to stay inside watching tv. I wanted to have fish bbq this evening. I have to think now what I am going to cook this evening.
The fish pond is just 30 minutes drive from our house. They have 5 ponds with different sizes of zalmforel fish.

I hope that the weather tomorrow will be better than today. It might be cloudy but it would still be fine as long as there is no rain.

Martin had just received his brand new drivers license. The family troops out to the driveway, and climbs in the car, where he is going to take them for a ride for the first time. Dad immediately heads for the back seat, directly behind the newly minted driver.

"I'll bet you're back there to get a change of scenery after all those months of sitting in the front passenger seat teaching me how to drive," says the beaming boy to his father.

"Nope," comes dad's reply, "I'm gonna sit here and kick the back of your seat as you drive, just like you've been doing to me all these years."

My hubby laughed and reacted that he should not forget this. When our boy Kevin get his driver's license, he will do the same. That irritates him everytime Kevin kicks unintentionally his seat.

Last week the kids had a week vacation from school. So, I made an appointment with my Chinese friend if she could teach me on how to make sushi. Me and my kids went to her house to make sushi. We had a great lunch; sushi and chinese soup. On our way home we dropped by the Indonesian store to buy the things needed to make sushi. Last Sunday I tried to make my own sushi. It turned out great. I love this dish. Very simple and affordable.
Shrimps in wanton wrapper, siomai, rice balls were also on the table.

After being married for 40 years, I turned and said to my wife, “Honey 40 years ago I was married to a hot young 21 year old, I had a small cheap apartment, I slept on a falling apart pull-out sofa and my car was held together by duct tape.

The school year 2010-2011 has just started. Today is the first day of school. My kids do not like it after having six weeks school vacation. Now we are planning for the next school vacation which is on October 23 until 31. Every year they have one week vacation in October.

Our 3D Eyewear

Yesterday afternoon we went out to see a movie "CATS AND DOGS" in 3D. We only go out to see a movie if it is shown in 3D. HD and blue ray films we watch them at home.

Do I look good with my 3D eyewear? LOL!

So, watch the film with your kids. It is a nice film for the whole family. An afternoon with kids in the moviehouse is enjoyable.
